Honda Super-N Officially Unveiled: Retro-Inspired Electric Kei Car Heads to Europe

Brant Qian · 2026-01-15

Honda has officially revealed the Honda Super-N, a fully electric kei-car-inspired city hatchback that will be launched in Europe. The model is set to go on sale in the UK with a starting price of £18,995 (approximately RMB 170,000). Power comes from a 29.6 kWh battery pack, delivering a WLTP-rated range of 206 km.

Inspired by a 1980s Honda Icon

The Super-N draws inspiration from the legendary Honda City Turbo II of the 1980s. Its boxy silhouette, flared wheel arches, and retro styling cues give the car a distinctive character rarely seen among today’s compact EVs.

Despite measuring just 3,599 mm in length and 1,573 mm in width, Honda claims the Super-N can comfortably seat four adults. Staying true to the brand’s reputation for intelligent packaging, the car features foldable “Magic Seats”, similar to those found in the original Honda Fit, offering practicality that exceeds many competitors in the segment.

Simple Cabin with a Hint of Nostalgia

The interior adopts a straightforward, functional layout. A floating central touchscreen sits atop a minimalist dashboard, complemented by physical buttons for key functions. Blue accent trim throughout the cabin subtly highlights the vehicle’s electric identity while preserving a touch of retro charm.

The overall design reflects the essence of Japanese small-car culture: simplicity, efficiency, and usability.

Boost Mode Adds Extra Fun

In standard driving mode, the Super-N produces 47 kW (63 hp), enabling a 0–100 km/h time of 14.5 seconds.

However, pressing the dedicated Boost button temporarily increases output to 70 kW (94 hp), cutting the acceleration time to 10.0 seconds.

To enhance driver engagement, Honda has equipped the Super-N with:

  • A simulated seven-speed transmission
  • Artificial engine sound effects
  • Driver-focused performance settings

These features were previously seen on higher-performance EVs such as the Hyundai IONIQ 5 N and the updated Porsche Taycan, but are now being offered in a much more affordable urban EV.

Range, Charging, and Technology

The Super-N’s 29.6 kWh battery pack provides:

  • 206 km WLTP combined range
  • Up to 320 km in urban driving conditions

Charging performance includes:

  • 10%–80% DC fast charging in approximately 30 minutes

Standard equipment includes:

  • Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
  • Bose premium audio system
  • Multiple factory personalization and graphics packages planned for launch

For Honda enthusiasts, the Super-N’s appeal lies less in outright performance and more in its philosophy. Rather than chasing larger batteries and higher power outputs, Honda has combined the lightweight spirit, clever packaging, and playful character of traditional Japanese kei cars with modern electric technology.

The result is a compact urban EV focused on affordability, practicality, and driving enjoyment—qualities that have long defined Honda’s most beloved small cars.

At present, the Super-N is expected to be available exclusively in Europe, with no plans for other markets having been announced. More details from Honda are expected in the coming months.
